Full-Time Youth Care Specialist – Ikot Abasi
Job Description
This role is in charge of monitoring child care providers to ensure that they are following all applicable laws, regulations, and procedures. This job is also responsible for conducting monitoring visits and recommending acceptance or denial of registration applications or renewals of child care facilities and centers within the given counties and caseload to Team Leads.

Qualifications:
- You’ll need to work with the division and the IT department to keep track of child care registration data.
- In collaboration with social service employees, investigates and documents allegations of abuse, neglect, or misconduct.
- Recommends to the State whether new applications for child care providers should be approved or denied, as well as if present registration should be revoked.
- Allow for weekend and nighttime visits for health and safety inspections. Maintain the necessary flexibility.
- This job aids facility owners with technical concerns in a variety of ways, including providing training, responding to queries, and disseminating child care-related information.
- There is minimal cooperation between owners, administrators, boards, and child care providers in a given geographic region in order to ensure compliance with child care standards.
- A key part of the inspector’s job is to inform child care providers of any difficulties and explain why they need to be addressed. The inspector should also offer a strategy for resolving these problems and provide a timeline for when they should be addressed.
- Implements the center’s educational philosophy by co-planning suitable learning activities for groups of children based on their age, size, composition, and other factors.
- By conducting inspections and evaluations of present and future child care providers, the department ensures that state and federal requirements are being followed..

Skills:
- Among the skills necessary for success in this profession are the ability to read and analyze business periodicals, as well as technical processes and regulatory requirements.
- To be considered for this job, you must have a Master’s Degree or the equivalent in post-baccalaureate academic credits of 36 hours or more. Applicants must have at least four years of administration or teaching experience in an academic program, or be affiliated with one.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are required.
- Experience working with low-income families and familiarity with the Child Care Resource and Referral Service are both highly desirable qualifications.
- Effective communication with groups of managers, customers, board members, and members of the general public, as well as the ability to reply to inquiries, are essential.
