Qualifications:

  • responsible for enforcing building codes by issuing notifications of violations, issuing tickets, issuing closure orders, and conducting follow-up inspections to verify that the corrective measures have been implemented.
  • Collaboration with other contractors and local officials on building projects is essential, as is providing direction and mechanical support when required. Participates in a range of training sessions to keep up to date on the latest trends in the construction sector as well as the appropriate inspection regulations.
  • Facilitates the settlement of tough and sensitive customer service issues that emerge in the framework of building laws and regulations.
  • Mobile/manufactured structures must be installed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and any relevant state legislation.
  • Provides information to consumers about codes and other regulatory requirements; acts as a subject matter expert on applicable regulatory codes; monitors and inspects barriers and other safety-related signs and equipment.
  • Inspection of contract requirements and quality control of building, sign, and construction work done by outside contractors and municipal employees; visits project sites and the offices of contractors to examine work and supplies on hand.

Skills:

  • Within 90 days of employment, a One and Two Family Dwelling Inspector license from the DBPR, which must be converted to a standard license during the period required by DBPR to work for the department.
