Job Description
Subordinate to the Operations Administrator, the City Planner is responsible for enforcing the Zoning Ordinance and City Codes. Supervisory and professional administrative work is performed by employees in this class. the City and County’s Zoning Code. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:
- Assists in the formulation of planning improvement and the modification of suggested goals in accordance with collected statistical data and statistical research and comparative assessments.
- Responsible for establishing and implementing programs to collect and evaluate data on economic, social, and physical aspects of land use, as well as providing data-driven visuals and narrative reports.
- Operating a range of office equipment, software, and operations that are typical to the contemporary commercial office with ease.
- An urban planner oversees zoning and other aspects of city planning. They suggest and execute any modifications in the city’s zoning plan review process or urban planning programme, as well as any procedural changes they propose and implement (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- Support the development and maintenance of the Comprehensive Plan by providing assistance in planning and implementing the plan’s chapters, updates, status reports, as well as other associated tasks.
- Materials, reports and documents are prepared for public hearings, different meetings and board presentations by this individual. Provides presentations and thorough reports to the City Council, Planning Commissions, Architectural Design Review Board and the general public on development projects.
- Communicate complex information effectively, clearly, and accurately both verbally and in writing to internal agencies and programmers, both written and oral.
- Applicants must comply with the UDC and the Comprehensive Plan in order to be approved.
- In order to ensure a successful and efficient operation and to meet or surpass customers’ expectations, develop a daily delivery plan that makes use of available equipment, labour, and other resources.
- Conducts research and develops reports on land use, physical, social, and economic challenges, as well as oversees the design and execution of community and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

- It’s important to know the physical, social, and economic aspects of a community, as well as how they work together. This includes knowledge of the most recent and upcoming trends in site and urban design. It also includes understanding the legal foundation and techniques used to write land use regulations, real estate, and development laws.
- There must be a bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of professional experience in urban planning or environmental planning, regional planning, or urban design. At least two (2) years of this experience must have been spent in a supervisory role.
- Understanding and experience with the concepts and techniques of urban planning and redevelopment at the professional level, as well as with the implementation of these ideas and processes.
- Required are a willingness to learn rapidly and a thorough understanding of local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances.
