Job Description
As directed by the Operations Administrator, the Municipal Planner is tasked with the analysis, organization, and execution of complex planning studies for the enforcement of city codes, laws, planning site plan conditions and limitations, and permits pertaining to the Zoning Ordinance. Supervisory and administrative work at the professional level is the responsibility of those classified in this classification.. An individual in this position serves as an advocate for the City and County’s Zoning Codes and Regulations. As required, performs associated responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- It is important to be able to communicate complicated information effectively, clearly, and accurately both verbally and in writing to internal agencies and programmers.
- Assist in writing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan, which includes coordinating, writing, presenting, and processing plan chapters and amendments, status reports, and other related activities, as well as other tasks.
- It is important to make a plan for each day’s deliveries to make sure the business runs smoothly and meets customers’ needs.
- Applicants must comply with the UDC and the Comprehensive Plan in order to be approved.
- Assists in the formulation of planning improvement and the modification of suggested goals in accordance with collected statistical data and statistical research and comparative assessments.
- Office supplies, software, and processes that are commonplace in today’s business workplaces are used.
- Zoning and urban planning are handled by the city’s planning director, who is also the city’s chief administrative officer. He or she advises and executes any modifications to the city’s zoning plan review process or urban planning programme, as well as any changes to the city’s administrative procedures (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- People who do this job make a lot of different materials and reports for public hearings and other meetings as well as for the board to show them. As part of their job, this person gives presentations and detailed reports on new development proposals to the City Council as well as to other groups, like the Planning Commission, the Architectural Design Review Board, and the public.
- The person in charge of developing programs for gathering and analyzing data on economic, social, and physical factors that affect land use, as well as making data-driven graphics and narrative reports, is this person.
- Lead the design and implementation of community and stakeholder engagement programs.
Skills:
- The capacity to swiftly absorb new information and get a thorough understanding of local zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances is essential.

- Worked for a minimum of six years in municipal planning and zoning, including at least two (2) years as a supervisor.
- Knowledge and expertise at the professional level in the implementation of urban planning and redevelopment ideas and methods.
- Ability to think swiftly and clearly; ability to stay cool under stressful conditions.
