A School Bus Driver provides safe, polite, and timely transportation for all kids between their homes and schools. Maintains a safe and clean environment when transporting pupils in line with state legislation and department of education standards.

Qualifications:
- Use safe and responsible methods to board and release challenged persons from adapted transportation lifts.
- Your supervisor will instruct you to hand over the keys to the vehicle, the receipts for the gasoline, and the paperwork from the pre- and post-trip phases of the journey to dispatch.
- Operate a vehicle on an allocated route in a safe and timely way to carry people to and from defined places, as well as associated operations.
- Always attempt to increase the firm’s goodwill by collaborating with employees, managers, and other passengers as needed.
- To maintain safety, limit wear, and prolong the vehicle’s useful life, properly care for the assigned vehicle and its component components as directed by the firm.
- Maintain the allocated bus in a clean and hygienic condition at all times by sweeping, wiping down all seats and the roof, and washing it.
- Conduct complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and special equipment checks, and provide relevant paperwork to administration.
- Maintain, read, and interpret route papers, including time modifications, and notify the supervisor immediately of any changes. Maintain sound work habits by completing daily chores and other trips on time and with little absenteeism.
- Maintain a respectable look, which involves dressing appropriately for the job, grooming neatly, and maintaining sufficient hygiene.
- Before, during, and after each trip, inspect each vehicle using proper methods and fill out all appropriate papers and reports. Use safe and responsible practices to operate the vehicle and stop to enable people to board and exit.
Skills:
- School bus drivers often utilize an emergency brake lever or an air brake button to remove the emergency brake before loading or unloading students. This is common practice on certain types of school buses.
- The ideal candidate is versatile, works well in a team, and is willing to step in as required.
- Lift, store, dismantle, and reassemble wheelchairs up to 40 pounds and any other ambulatory equipment required by the passenger.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years verifiable driving history. No more than 2 moving violations and 1 preventable accident in the past 3 years.
- A valid Class B or higher commercial driver’s license with passenger and school bus endorsements is necessary.
