Qualifications:
- Using social media and other online networks to disseminate your content is essential.
- Pursue stories at the intersection of arts, culture, and underrepresented communities.
- Keep up with your regular filing, which may need you to put in some extra time on the weekends or evenings.
- In addition, you’ll need to be familiar with federal and state internet reporting systems, keep a watch on and investigate public disclosure forms, and submit records request forms.
- The reporter will be responsible for covering and investigating topics related to the influence of money in politics, including the monitoring of campaign contributions, political action committees, lobbying, and conflicts of interest.
- Convene and host talks with local artistic communities, and engage with key stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Depending on the circumstances, you may also be asked to take photos, make videos, or do interviews on camera to accompany your reporting.
- Collaborate closely with editors and content creators to develop a strategy and plan that articulates your vision for covering the arts and how you intend to go about doing it.
- This position will entail pitching stories and working on assignments. You will be responsible to the managing editor.
- For use on radio, the web, television, and podcasts, find and create fascinating arts stories.
Skills:
- a similar combination of education and experience, such as a bachelor’s degree and three years of professional journalism experience, with significant skill covering the arts.
- core familiarity with the tools and procedures used in audio production.
- Required skills include fluency in English and the ability to explain complex ideas to a general audience.
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are all useful Microsoft Office programs to master. Possessing familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms is a plus.
- Capacity for both individual and team effort, as well as for representing the station in a positive light at all times.
