As a firefighter, you’re accountable for the safety and security of the places you’re assigned to guard. As a visible deterrent to crime and client rule breaches, our Firefighters also report suspicious, unsafe or illegal behaviors that may threaten the property, clients, visitors or workers at the site to the appropriate authorities.

Qualifications:

• Other tasks include becoming a customer relations liaison for the department by installing smoke detectors, attending special community events and school gatherings, and educating all age groups via programs for life and fire safety.
• During the shift, both the inside and exterior of the fire station must be kept clean. Kitchen and bathroom facilities also need to be sanitized.
• To be able to carry out all of the aforementioned duties without putting one’s self or others’ safety at risk.
• Keep emergency equipment in good working order, inspect both residential and commercial properties for fire and life safety, and respond to emergencies in a safe and quick way.
• As a team player, contribute positively to regional and corporate goals.
• Take action in the event of a spill or a bomb threat. Build dikes or contain hazardous materials in a manner that prohibits their discharge to avoid polluting the surface drainage system.
• All parts of fire suppression, including rescue and entry, are incorporated in this function. Occupants are saved and ventilated as well as salvaged, and the building is kept safe.
• Make sure the automobile you’ve been given is working correctly on a daily basis as your primary responsibility. Maintaining adequate fluid levels is only one of the many responsibilities of a mechanic. Refueling and cleaning the car are optional but highly recommended.
• When arriving on a site, a firefighter must be able to compile and record numerous records such as pre-plans of occupancy, inspection reports, incident reports of alarms, and sizing up information.
• Hand tools, power tools, and smoke ejectors are among the equipment you’ll need in your job as a firefighter. Houses will be broken into with axes and pike poles, among other things.

Skills:

• Possessing the capacity to collaborate with others, to identify and respect lines of authority, and to maintain cordial interactions with members of the public are all desirable characteristics.
• The NFPA 1582 required physical examination must be passed. The ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force on a regular or frequent basis is required to lift, carry, push, pull, or move any object.
• The capacity to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, as well as with members of the general public and other employees, is an absolute need.
• As a condition of employment, an employee must keep all necessary licenses current and valid at all times and must have the license with them at all times while on the job.
• Certifications in CPR and first aid are essential, as is the ability to complete 240 hours of training each year in addition to the requirements of the work.
