Qualifications:
- Provide patients with information and training to help them lessen their reliance on drugs and avoid surgery.
- The therapist interacts with a physician and other practitioners to gather more patient information, make treatment program revisions, and integrate physical therapy with other areas of the patient’s health care.
- Create a Care Plan, hold patients accountable for following it, and make adjustments to the schedule and plan as appropriate based on the patient’s progress.
- Encourage the client’s progress toward mutually agreed-upon goals and a discharge plan, if necessary, by counselling and conferring with the client’s family and/or other caregivers.
- Tests and assesses a patient’s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacities, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, as well as keeping track of the results in order to design or modify treatment plans.
- When it comes to mobility and health, restore, maintain, and promote not just optimal physical function but also perfect wellness, fitness, and quality of life.
- Initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations must be completed in accordance with APTA guidelines and state regulations.
- Prevent impairments, functional restrictions, and disabilities from developing, causing symptoms, and progressing as a result of diseases, disorders, ailments, or injuries.
- Instructs, motivates, and assists the patient in completing a variety of physical tasks, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and the use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
- Understands different payer payments and distributes therapy resources efficiently depending on resident goals and outcomes in connection to discharge destination.
Skills:
- Empathy, compassion, and the ability to encourage patients to push their limits in a responsible, safe, and constructive way are all important qualities.
- The applicant should have a drive to learn and improve his abilities on a constant basis, as well as a leadership spirit.
- Knowledge and experience in rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and medical/surgical settings that demonstrates achievement of the required job knowledge, skills, and abilities are desired.
- Working in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or inpatient/outpatient setting for at least one year is required.
- It is necessary to get a physical therapy degree from an American Physical Therapy Association-approved program.
