Qualifications:

  • Create a Care Plan, hold patients accountable for following it, and adjust the schedule and plan as needed based on the patient’s progress.
  • As appropriate, provide guidance and consultation to the client’s family and/or other caregivers in order to encourage the client’s progress toward mutually agreed-upon goals and a discharge plan.
  • Understands different payer payments and distributes therapy resources efficiently depending on resident goals and outcomes in connection to discharge destination.
  • Instructs, motivates, and assists the patient in completing a variety of physical tasks, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and the use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  • Perform initial and continuous physical therapy evaluations in accordance with APTA and state recommendations.
  • Prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional restrictions, and disabilities that can occur as a result of diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries.
  • Patients should be given information and training to assist them reduce their reliance on medications and avoid surgery.
  • When it comes to mobility and health, restore, maintain, and encourage not only optimal physical function but also ideal wellness, fitness, and quality of life.
  • Consults with physicians and other practitioners to gather additional patient information, modify treatment plans, and incorporate physical therapy into the patient’s overall health care.
  • Tests and examines a patient’s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and keeps track of the results in order to build or change treatment plans.

Skills:

  • An APTA-accredited physical therapy degree is required.
  • It is necessary to have one year of experience in a skilled nursing facility, a hospital, or an inpatient/outpatient setting.
  • Empathy, compassion, and the capacity to urge patients to push themselves to their boundaries in a responsible, safe, and productive way are all valuable traits.
  • The candidate should possess a strong sense of leadership as well as a strong desire to learn and enhance his skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in rehabilitation, Orthopedics, and medical/surgical settings that demonstrate achievement of the necessary job knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred.
