Job Description

Payroll administration, payroll audit, and best practice payroll procedures are all performed by the Payroll Analyst. Compile, evaluate, and record payroll and associated problems to discover systemic difficulties or mistakes. Answer internal and external payroll questions. Prepare information for external and internal auditors and support internal payroll audits. Reconcile all tax and unemployment responsibility accounts, examine discrepancies, and provide remedies. Responsible for quarterly and year-end payroll tax reporting, research, and resolution. Work with low supervision and considerable discretion. Trains department workers and handles payroll escalations.

Qualifications:

  • Participated in a wide range of tasks related to processing and managing employee pay, such as keeping complicated and private accounting and bookkeeping records.
  • State and federal demands must be answered. ADHOC reports Review month-end, quarterly, and yearly payroll reports for transactions, irregularities, and comments/recommendations.
  • Employee status changes are noted in the system to identify whether modifications are required when workers are transferred, promoted, demoted, or become full-time or part-time.
  • Contract wages and benefits. Direct engagement from HR personnel is required for the following tasks: processing of termination lump sum payments, employee termination eforms, excess pay eforms, and overpayment/underpayment analysis and resolution
  • This individual organizes biweekly payroll. Create each task, check the results, and repair any problems before going on.
  • Compute and make salary and benefit cost forecasts for budgeting and collective bargaining. Keep accurate records of payroll expenses for budget reconciliation. For each payroll cycle, keep a detailed control sheet.
  • All District employees’ payroll is prepared and generated, including tax, social security, unemployment insurance, and retirement withholding. Throughout the district, employee records for taxes, benefits, membership fees, and other deductible items should be updated. Calculate the tax loads and make any required changes.
  • Monitor data accuracy and conformance to standards by conducting follow-ups with staff as necessary. To ensure that the data in reports and systems is compliant, determine if any revisions are needed and then make them.
  • Resolve issues and discrepancies, and provide technical information on transactions, documents, rules and procedures that are related to the inquiry.
  • Communicate with business users to acquire and clarify business needs, then translate them into system functionality.

Skills:

  • The process of processing payroll includes time recording and final payroll tax payments. This role requires knowledge with auto-pay systems, notably with SAP software.
  • Time-reporting systems and processes desired. Work under union contracts recommended. Effective verbal, writing, interpersonal, and customer service abilities.
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would include most of the requirements listed below, is required. You could also meet most of the requirements by having an equal amount of education and experience.
  • At least two to four years of relevant experience in an analytical capacity employing Workday, preferably in one of the following modules: Human capital management (HCM), payroll, benefits, compensation, recruitment, and education all fall under this umbrella term.
  • Level 2 needs 3+ years of recent analytical and reporting experience, including garnishment processing. Level 3 requires 5+ years.
