Job Description
The machinist is a skilled worker who uses their knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal characteristics, and layout, machining, and assembly methods to create and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools.

Qualifications:
- Plans and lays out work according to directions and requirements, both verbal and written.
- Using precision measurement, inspect finished units for faults and to confirm compliance to specifications.
- Maintain and operate machine tools including lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment to guarantee appropriate and safe operation by installing maintenance, repaired or replacement components.
- To produce a certain number of component parts, execute sophisticated turning, drilling, milling, and tapping operations.
- Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are all examples of safety precautions to take (PPE)
- Using a range of machinist’s hand tools and precision measurement equipment, the machinist configures and operates manual and CNC machine machines.
- To build high-quality components, collaborate with programmers in technical communication.
- Use tools, materials, software, equipment, and components to come up with solutions to problems. Enhance the machine’s performance by identifying and proposing new specs for the component.
- Analyze sample components, blueprints, drawings, and engineering data in order to ascertain the manufacturing processes and sequences of operations necessary, as well as the dimensions and tolerances of the products.
Skills:
- Ability to perform precise measurements using precision instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, drop gages, and gage blocks).
- A machinist must be able to work in temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to do this job.
- Experience with manual, semi-automatic, and automated tools and machinery, as well as programming (lathes, grinders etc.)
- If you want to be a mechanical or automotive engineer, you need to get a two-year associate’s degree or have at least two years of experience in a related field first.
- Industrial machinist prior expertise, including knowledge of machine technology, construction, operation, and power/control devices, is preferred.
