Job Description
To fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools, the Machinist analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts, using knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.

Qualifications:
- Utilize tools, materials, programs, and equipment, as well as component specifications, to overcome obstacles. Enhance the performance of the machine by finding and suggesting changes to component specifications.
- Dismantle and install maintenance-related, repaired, or replacement components into the machine to ensure proper and safe operation.
- Using careful measurement, inspect finished units for flaws and assure conformity to requirements.
- Interprets verbal and written directions and requirements, as well as plans and lays out tasks.
- In order to meet the required number of component parts, perform sophisticated turning, drilling, milling, and tapping procedures
- Cooperate in technical communication with programming developers to produce high-quality components.
- Analyze prototype components, blueprints, drawings, and other engineering data to establish the best techniques and sequences of activities for product fabrication, as well as the final product’s dimensions and tolerances.
- Maintain and operate equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- The machinist sets up and operates manual and CNC machine tools, as well as executes basic shop calculations related to job dimensions, tooling, feeds, and milling speeds, using a wide range of machinist’s hand tools and accurate measurement equipment.
- Follow safe work practices such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (PPE)
Skills:
- It is necessary to be able to operate in temperatures up to and including 120 degrees Fahrenheit throughout the summer.
- Associates degree in mechanical, automotive, or machining, or two years of related work experience
- Prior experience as an Industrial Machinist with a solid understanding of machine technology, construction, operation, and power/control devices, as well as knowledge with metal working properties.
- Experience with manual, semi-automated, and automated tools and equipment
- Calipers, micrometers, drop gage and gage blocks are all precision instruments that may be used to accurately measure.
