Job Description
Lifeguards are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the safety of pool users and spectators by educating and promoting safe recreational behaviors and attitudes, as well as enforcing safety legislation and responding effectively to emergencies. Individuals must be capable of working alone and as part of a broader staff team. This job requires the ability to engage politely and respectfully with the public in a variety of situations. Lifeguards may be required for special events, evenings, weekends, and split hours.

Qualifications:
- Preparation of the pool and pool area for the summer season includes cleaning the pool, washing the decks, cleaning and relocating the pool furniture and lifeguard equipment, cleaning the bathhouse, cleaning the fence, and raking the flower beds.
- Responds courteously to members’ and visitors’ inquiries, gives information according with the assignment’s scope, and addresses complaints in a timely and efficient manner.
- The lifeguards are also responsible for avoiding accidents and ensuring that the water is safe, in addition to their primary duties.
- When teaching youngsters to swim or spending time with their families, keep an eye out for any infractions of the pool’s rules or regulations that might risk their health and safety.
- Assist in the maintenance of a variety of accident reports; and the ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate effectively in English in order to execute the tasks of this job.
- Maintains the pool and surrounding deck areas, as well as the pool house and gutters, by keeping an eye on the water chemistry of the pool water.
- Observes and enforces all Club safety rules and regulations when members and visitors use the pool area.
- Follows all pool safety rules and procedures and assures adherence to these safe work practices and procedures as well as established policies, rules, and regulations.
- To manage aquatic services in accordance with the club’s policies, which may include instructing swimmers, overseeing group swim activities, and assisting with other aquatic program activities.
- Take on responsibility for the pool deck, break room, restrooms, and drains.
Skills:
- At least three months of lifeguarding experience is necessary.
- Ability to work with people of all ages, including those with impairments.
- For this job, a high school diploma or GED is required.
- The American Red Cross’s Lifeguard Training, Community First Aid, and CPR certification must be current for the professional rescuer.
- An essential skill is the capacity to create and maintain excellent working connections with co-workers, departments, and the general public.
