Qualifications:
- Perform initial and ongoing physical therapy evaluations in line with APTA standards of practice and state laws.
- Provide patients with information and training to help them lessen their reliance on drugs and to consider alternatives to surgery.
- Instructs, motivates, and supports the patient through non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and the use of assistive and supportive devices such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
- Prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional restrictions, and disabilities caused by diseases, disorders, ailments, or injuries.
- Consults with physicians and other practitioners to get additional patient information, modify treatment plans, and incorporate physical therapy into the patient’s overall health care.
- Tests and examines a patient’s strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacities, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, as well as keeping track of the results so that treatment plans can be designed or modified.
- Restore, maintain, and stimulate not just optimal physical function, but also ideal wellness, fitness, and quality of life when it comes to mobility and health.
- Understands various payer payments and efficiently distributes therapy resources based on resident goals and outcomes in relation to discharge destination.
- Implement a Care Plan, hold patients accountable for sticking to it, and alter the schedule and plan as needed based on the patient’s progress.
- As needed, advise and consult with the client’s family and/or other caregivers to encourage the client’s progress toward mutually agreed-upon goals and a discharge plan.
Skills:
- The ideal applicant will have a strong sense of leadership and a strong drive to learn and improve his abilities.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a skilled nursing facility, hospital, or inpatient/outpatient setting is necessary.
- It is necessary to have a physical therapy degree from an APTA-approved program.
- Empathy, compassion, and the capacity to urge patients to push themselves to their boundaries in a responsible, safe, and productive way are all valuable traits.
- It is desirable to have knowledge and experience in a rehabilitation, Orthopedic, or medical/surgical setting that demonstrates achievement of the requisite job knowledge, skills, and abilities.
