We need a law clerk. People who do legal research work read briefs and other legal documents, figure out which issues are important, research statutes and precedents and other things that affect these issues, and write opinions, rulings, and other documents. The judge who is in charge of the Court of Common Pleas assigns the person to do the work.

Qualifications:

• Ensures that all of the necessary information has been included in pretrial briefs and other submissions; summarizes information presented, identifying pertinent issues and other noteworthy elements; conducts research into precedential and related cases, laws, and opinions; summarizes such findings, including likely outcome based on available evidence, and submits such information to assigned judge; prepares multiple summaries for all of the judges involved in en banc panel (or argument court) cases.
• They conduct research and, based on the study’s results, provide a proposed opinion for the judge to use in explaining the court’s decision and why it was made.
• Travel as required by the principle, which may include assisting with client engagements, presentations, and other such activities.
• Discusses cases with the judge, ensuring that all salient points raised and related issues of law are taken into consideration; expresses opinion and ensures that the judge’s viewpoint and intention are understood; drafts opinions and orders for cases, including both civil and criminal, sentencing decisions, and related matters; ensures proper citation of applicable statutory and precedential guidelines; responds to the judge’s questions about citations, intent, and other elements of such drafts; receives final approval of opinions and orders.
• Consider using the skills and abilities indicated above in any additional work assignments that need them.
• Ascertain commercial potential related to the legal field and then build website features that are appropriate for that firm.
• Inquiries into reports and referrals made by federal, tribal and state investigators for probable cause; assesses the need for more information and evidence and develops thorough techniques to acquire essential information and evidence.
• Do legal research to find out if the legal arguments and authority given by litigants and their attorneys are true or not. Use discretion and judgment to figure out which issues are important and which aren’t.
• Copies documents and provides assistance in the incorporation of corporate legal documents while writing letters and assisting in their compilation.
• Records and indexes a wide range of evidence for use in legal proceedings..

Skills:

• Opinions, memoranda and other legal writings expressing relevant issues, relevant law and precedent and judicial viewpoints might be created.
• the ability to cooperate with colleagues, submit to authority, and treat others with civility in public
• Effective communication with the general public, other departments, offices, and personnel is a must.
• Know-how in situations involving the Court of Common Pleas, including civil and criminal rules and regulations
• At the time of enrollment or graduation, all applicants must have earned a Juris Doctor or Bachelor of Laws degree from an authorized law institution.
