Job Description

The job of Budget Manager is in charge of all programmatic components of internal and external reporting for the program. This job serves as the principal financial liaison with program employees and will lead efforts to organize financial information alignment among executive, program, and development personnel.

Qualifications:

  • Income and spending trends are analyzed using a projected budget and budgeted amounts, as well as identifying potential revenue and expenditure management issues.
  • Prepares a suggested budget plan by collecting data from several departments and suggesting budget levels that are acceptable to those departments.
  • To serve as a point of contact for any budget-related issues between the department and the VP&S Office of Budget. Compile the budget narrative for the Departmental Administrator.
  • Completing tasks not specifically included in the job description, but which fall within a broad occupational category and correspond to a responsibility level often associated with the employee’s line of work.
  • Budget difficulties are researched, and financial facts and patterns are evaluated and analyzed; future resource availability is projected, and remedial measures are recommended.
  • Customers and workers are routinely involved in the decision-making process for concerns ranging from the allocation of resources to the quality of the services they get.
  • Its tasks include overseeing the yearly City budget preparation and review process, as well as drafting and maintaining budget standards, rules, and schedules. The city’s final budget is also available here.
  • Support designated divisions by collaborating with OMB and OF on operational and financial concerns and grant processing for the OMB and OF.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy while responding to queries about allocated program areas from both internal and external sources.
  • With either a short term or long term job assignment, a person must become part of the team and build rapport as well as define analytical criteria to assess performance consistently and effectively. The ability to create and adhere to deadlines is essential.

Skills:

  • The ability to handle the financial and budgetary affairs of a large organization with an understanding of public sector financial theories and ideas as well as best practices.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a comparable position; excellent organizational and people skills; good communication and writing skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment; self-motivated and able to handle many duties at one time; good managerial skills and able to work and develop others as a team; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher), graphics/desktop and Internet software knowledge helpful.
  • To be considered for this job, you must have a minimum of four (4) years of professional management experience in budget and grant preparation/administration.
  • Flexible work arrangements, whether from home, on the road, or in a regular office setting.
  • The capacity to work with massive datasets and the utilization of software solutions and business intelligence tools that are integrated.
