Job Description
We’re seeking for an enthusiastic Geologist to join our team! Starting on the first day of your internship, you’ll work with seasoned engineers and scientists to assist customers solve water and environmental problems in their communities. For site investigation and cleanup projects, this person will help with environmental and engineering activities. Candidates must be self-motivated, have excellent writing abilities, and a willingness to work in the field to assist a variety of scientific and engineering projects. To be considered, applicants should have a strong command of the English language, a positive outlook, and the capacity to work both independently and cooperatively in groups.

Qualifications:
- Field work planning and preparation, drilling and monitoring well installation supervision, recording soil boreholes, and remedial system deployment (e.g. subsurface injections) and operation and maintenance are some of the typical duties undertaken by field workers. Samples of soil and groundwater will be collected and documented in the field to help assess contamination levels.
- The Project Manager should be informed of any issues that arise, such as cost and time overruns, client-requested scope modifications, potential liability exposure, or anything else that may affect the project’s success and safety.
- Produce, if necessary, requests for further information and permits/documents that are technically correct, clear, comprehensible, and compliant with stated laws, instructions, and procedures.
- To provide assistance to solid waste and water facilities permitting engineers and compliance staff, as well as to be responsible for permitting activities relating to water quality monitoring plans and evaluation of environmental sampling that is necessary for assigned solid waste facilities projects.
- Drillers have a variety of responsibilities, including setting up drilling rigs, conveying management goals to drilling crews, and keeping in touch with them to stay on top of issues like mechanical problems, hole quality, and surveys, to name a few.
- This information will need to be delivered to management on a daily basis in the form of a report. A company’s inventory and sample movement must be carefully monitored.
- Help District or Division authorities examine geology and risk assessment papers for Solid Waste & Waste Cleanup submittals. Your supervisors or managers will provide you site restoration plans and paperwork to review.
- There are a number of programs that must be learned in addition to Microsoft Word and Excel. As a remedial system specialist, you should have a fundamental grasp of building and mechanical systems.
- Preparation of remedial investigations, remedial system design, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, cost estimation, and technical writing are some of the responsibilities that may be assigned.
- Project management may take many forms, such as the development of concepts and budgets, the execution of corrective measures, the monitoring of progress, and even mentorship.
Skills:
- In a mining or industrial factory, workers may be exposed to severe temperatures and humidity, electrical shock, and deadly chemicals and explosives.
- To be considered, you must have a bachelor’s or higher degree in geology and at least 20 additional semester hours in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural engineering, mining, petroleum engineering, or computer science from an accredited institution or university.
- Capability to execute field and site inspections linked to groundwater monitoring well installation at solid waste facilities, as well as inspections in accordance with the solid waste level of service for closed landfills.
- Detail-oriented reporting and accuracy; collecting geology data and producing informative maps capable of using Microsoft’s application suite; Oversee the fulfillment of several projects.
- It is required that you provide one year of work experience or training at the GS-7 level in your resume. Analysis and data gathering are necessary to meet this criteria. It’s also necessary for you to contribute to the discovery and selling of minerals by providing standard data, doing research, and so on.
