Qualifications:
- Prior to being deemed complete, district or division-level applications for the collection, sorting, and disposal of solid waste must be reviewed by the relevant authorities. Evaluate supervisors or managers’ plans and papers for site repairs.
- Remedial system deployment (e.g., subsurface injections) is one example of a typical activity that includes field work planning, preparation, drilling, monitoring well installation supervision, and recording of soil boreholes. Additionally, in order to assess pollution levels, samples of soil and groundwater will be collected and documented on the ground.
- Daily reports must be generated and updated to alert management. Inventory management and sample transport are logistical responsibilities.
- Strong computer abilities, such as Word, Excel, and database applications, are desirable; experience with ArcGIS and CAD is a bonus. General building and mechanical abilities are a bonus, as is familiarity with and functional understanding of remedial systems.
- Project management may take many forms, such as the development of concepts and budgets, the execution of corrective measures, the monitoring of progress, and even mentorship.
- Drillers have a variety of responsibilities, including setting up drilling rigs, conveying management goals to drilling crews, and keeping in touch with them to stay on top of issues like mechanical problems, hole quality, and surveys, to name a few.
- Some of the things they might have to do are prepare remedial investigations, remedial system designs, feasibility studies, remedial action plans, groundwater monitoring plans and reports, estimate costs, and write technical documents.
- Create requests and documents that are technically accurate, clear, intelligible, and follow the existing rules, instructions, and processes if further information is needed.
- If there are any problems, delays, cost or time overruns, customer-requested changes to the scope, liability exposure or anything else vital to the project’s success or security, please notify the project management.
- Preparation of water quality monitoring strategies and evaluation of environmental sampling findings are two other responsibilities of this position.
Skills:
- Exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, as well as the risk of electrical shock and exposure to dangerous chemicals and explosives, is possible at a mining or manufacturing site.
- Field and site inspections for the construction of groundwater monitoring wells at solid waste plants as well as defunct landfills may be carried out by these experts
- A bachelor’s or higher degree in geology plus at least 20 extra semester hours in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological science, structural engineering, mining, petroleum engineering, or computer science from an approved college or university is required for consideration.
- You must have at least one year of work experience or training at the GS-7 level. To meet this need, soil and rock samples need to be taken and analyzed. You should also have given basic information to higher-level experts, done research and investigations, and helped find and sell minerals.
