Qualifications:
- For a range of residential and commercial plans, permits, reports and studies, preliminary conclusions are produced on technical compliance problems. Resolving difficulties and offering direction for code compliance; documenting the planned project; and making suggestions for approval or corrective procedures to remedy deviations or violations.
- Calculates ratios, volumes, angles, grades, construction quantities, and other project components as required by the needs of the assigned project; gives cost estimates; and verifies third-party contractor calculations utilizing a thorough understanding of engineering principles and procedures.

- Analyzes a range of engineering and operational data to support County infrastructure; compile, study and analyze staking out design components in the field for building projects and participating in field and topographical surveys for design assignments road condition evaluation and remedial procedures to repair or resurface roads; ensuring that on-site construction is completed in accordance with the plans and specifications laid forth for it; is in charge of several fiefs.
- Responds to equipment that has ceased working or has broken down mechanically and repairs it. Problem-solving skills (when necessary). Among other things, it replaces worn/defective parts, motors, and control devices.
- Keeps and updates both electronic and paper records of daily department activities; maintains full project records and design/drawing files for assigned projects; and, if required, database files.
- Gathering data on grants, permits, and environmental regulations, in addition to writing legal descriptions of property; interpreting maps and plats; creating or updating various CAD maps; and gathering data on grants, permits, and environmental laws.
- Prepares project contract documents and all required permitting; develops construction specifications and reviews contractor specifications for compliance with established rules and regulations; organizes bid proposals and calculates cost estimates; reviews materials, labor, and equipment costs to ensure accuracy; and provides technical guidance for construction as needed.
- To design and implement large, complicated engineering projects that are related to public infrastructure, engineers employ GPS, GIS, and CADD software. They provide detailed engineering drawings as well as maps, plats, and other visual aids for use by other professionals.
- Meeting with design consultants and writing emails and bulk mailings to discuss the project are part of engineering customer care. Additionally, it entails responding to construction inquiries as well as the concerns and complaints of citizens. Public communication is part of this process as well.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are required.
- Prior to their appointment, all applicants who have been provisionally selected for VA employment in a testing-specific role must undertake a urine screening for illegal drug use. Refusal to take the test will result in a denial of benefits from the VA.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer system engineering, or a similar engineering degree is required.
- It is necessary to have a working understanding of roadway design software and computer operations. Works with computer-related products including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble, the internet, spreadsheets, word processing, State software for road and bridge, and other applications as needed or taught.
- You must have three years of experience in civil engineering surveying or drawing or any other sub-professional civil engineering job that equips you with the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities for this role.
