Job Description
The Engineering Technician is a position that is both practical and analytical. He/she will be responsible for the development of the DVT-forming process, as well as participation in continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities, under the supervision of Manufacturing Engineers. Data entry, reporting, troubleshooting, issue solving, and logistics will be among the responsibilities. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical aptitude, the ability to meet tight deadlines, great interpersonal and communication skills, be detail-oriented, and be able to take guidance while also working autonomously.

Qualifications:
- Researches, compiles, and analyses legal descriptions, permit reports, deeds, plats, plans, and other property data; interprets maps and plats; compiles information on grant, permit, and environmental laws compliance; and creates and/or updates various maps using CAD.
- Maintains electronic and hardcopy records of daily departmental activity, as well as thorough project records and design/drawing files for assigned projects.
- Reviews a wide range of residential and commercial plans, plats, permits, reports, and studies for compliance with ordinances and construction standards; examines designs and makes preliminary findings on technical compliance issues. Working with third-party architects and engineers to resolve difficulties and provide direction for code compliance; evaluating and assessing the impact of the proposed project; and making suggestions for approval and/or corrective action to remedy deviations or violations.
- Engineers and operational data that support the County’s infrastructure are being acquired, examined, and reviewed by the county government. Surveying in the field and at higher elevations for the purpose of planning building projects. Inspects construction sites to ensure that the plans and specifications of the project are being followed and manages a number of fiefs to mend or resurface roads depending on the current situation.
- When a project’s specifications call for a certain set of ratios or volumes to be calculated, a project’s cost estimates are provided as well as the ability to verify third-party contractor computations.
- Provides engineering support to project managers; develops construction specifications and reviews contractor specifications for compliance with established rules and regulations; organizes bid proposals and calculates cost estimates; prepares project contract documents and all required permitting; reviews materials, labor, and equipment costs to ensure accuracy; and provides construction technical guidance as needed.
- Prepares plans, skilled engineering drawings, specifications, details, maps, plats, and other displays for engineering projects using GPS, GIS, and CADD software, as well as contributes to the design of larger, more complex projects related to public infrastructure.
- Meeting with design consultants, as well as composing letters and sending out bulk mailings to inform customers about the project, are all examples of engineering customer service. Responses to construction inquiries, as well as complaints and concerns from the public, are also part of the job description.
- Responds to and repairs equipment malfunctions. Troubleshooting (when necessary). Among other things, it replaces worn or damaged parts, motors, and control systems.

Skills:
- As a sub-professional in surveying, drawing, or civil engineering, you must have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years’ experience.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer system engineering, or a similar engineering degree is required.
- A thorough understanding of computer hardware and software is a prerequisite for highway engineering. AutoCAD Civil 3D and Trimble, the internet, spreadsheets (such as Microsoft Excel), and word processors (such as Microsoft Word) may be used if required or desired (including Microsoft Word).
- In order to be considered for VA employment in a test-specific role, all candidates who have been provisionally approved are submitted to a urinalysis to check for illegal drug usage. Applicants who refuse to take the exam will have their applications rejected by the Veterans Affairs Department (VA).
- Communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are essential.
