The candidate with good quantitative modelling abilities and the ability to use statistical/machine learning, econometric, and experimental design methodologies is required for this position. The applicant should be able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders in order to turn data-driven results into actionable insights. Qualifications:
- Plan the study, organize the execution, and report on the findings based on issues raised by research sponsors, management, or senior staff.
- The senior economist directs the economic research, assessment, interpretation, benefit estimation, and reporting.
- To achieve specifically specified objectives, conduct surveys to gather economic data, compare previously provided data to current situations, and identify relationships between significant economic elements.
- In order to analyze and forecast market activity, it’s vital to look into historical trends.
- Determines and makes recommendations on timetables and methods for supplying economic and financial data in order to meet specified reporting standards, processes, and procedures; assists in the formulation of budget and economic objectives that are consistent with strategic planning initiatives; and performs other duties as assigned.
- Work with governmental and private sector clients to conduct economic policy research efforts (e.g. market research, surveys, project and impact evaluations, etc.)
- Gather and analyze existing data, as well as perform research to uncover new data sources for analytic purposes.
- Collaborate with other economists and senior executives to explain and present economic ideas and quantitative data to non-technical audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Make sure the department’s tools and products keep up with the business’s needs, including coming up with new and creative ways to do things.
- Use mathematical models and statistical approaches to analyze data.
Skills:
- Accurate written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to tailor communications to a wide range of different audiences.
- Applicants must have completed at least 21 semester hours of economics and three semester hours of statistics, accounting, or calculus.
- The ideal applicant will have a strong sense of leadership and a strong willingness to learn and improve.
- Teaching responsibilities in a college or institution that included both classroom instruction and one of the following: (1) personal research that gave proof of results, (2) supervision of graduate theses in economics, or (3) consulting or advising on technical economics difficulties.
- Recent economic study on entrepreneurship, small business, employment, and labor market dynamics is required.
