Job Description
As directed, a Medical Examiner conducts autopsies, examines bodies, analyzes and interprets data collected during investigations, signs papers, deposes in court, photographs evidence, gives medical information about dead, and other related activities.

Qualifications:
- The Neurophysiology Conference, the Case Consensus Meeting, and the Toxicology Rounds are a few of the pathology conferences that he attends. Among other things, neurophysiology instructs medical students and residents on how to look at brains and spinal cords. It is expected that this person will also assist in the creation and delivery of other educational programs by the Medical Director and his or her team. An expert in the field of forensic pathology, this person gives presentations and lectures on the subject.
- In order to determine how and why someone died, investigators gather evidence at the scene of the crime or death, including medical history, medication usage and mental state at the time of death, as well as weapons and other items. They also take photos and videos of the scene and speak with friends, family and other people who may have seen what happened.
- During an investigation, any and all evidence gathered is documented and maintained in a file for future reference. The investigator may also collect copies of police reports and medical records, if necessary.
- Find out more about a dead person’s medical and mental history by speaking to their doctor, obtaining and evaluating their medical and dental records, and looking into information from other sources in order to aid forensic pathologists in identifying the deceased.
- Medical information is shared with law police, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, and the general public.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and abilities through participating in continuing education seminars, training programs, and related courses.
- provide clear, accurate, and unbiased death investigation reports via a web-based records management system.
- In order to determine the cause and manner of death, the incumbent gathers case materials, which may include all reports, diagrams, charts, and photos, as well as evidence and confirmation papers. This position handles cases that come in during evening and night shifts and is responsible for making jurisdictional decisions and attending to death scenes on a rotational basis. If necessary, the incumbent will testify before federal and district courts in the United States, as well as circuit courts in neighboring jurisdictions.. This office is responsible for completing any responsibilities given to it by the Chief or Deputy Chief Medical Examiner. Infectious illness control and monitoring are put into practice.
- Gets expert witness skills for any forensic criminal and civil processes that are connected to the cases that are being looked at. Also, if there are extra forensic needs in the County, they can get them.
- Customers are served both in-person and over the phone; information or assistance is provided regarding departmental activities, forms, procedures, fees or other issues; routine questions and complaints are addressed; problems are looked into and solutions are initiated; and complaints or problems are referred to the appropriate personnel.
Skills:

- Medical and dental examination and identification procedures; knowledge of trauma; knowledge of natural diseases; and understanding of forensic external examinations, autopsy, and medical/dental examination
- To be able to apply, you must have an associate’s degree in biology, medical science, para-medicine, or a closely related field, as well as 1,000 hours of work experience that can be proven. Experience in the field is a plus.
- As mandated by the Department of Professional Regulations, candidates must already have or be able to receive a current license to practice medicine
