- Make it easier for project managers to make up-front estimates of time and resources by conducting systematic discovery with stakeholders, IT resources, and vendors.
- Oversee the program’s finances, coordinate a wide range of activities, address participant complaints, and keep tabs on development.
- Arbitrate and resolve conflict within the program when necessary. Understand appropriate paths and methods for escalation.
- Manage several concurrent programs and/or projects that are not necessarily related or interdependent.
- Facilitate the program’s budgeting process and coordinate with upper-level management, project leads, and suppliers to maximize the project’s return on investment.
- Recognize how your individual projects affect the bigger picture, and proceed with caution when elevating concerns or threats to the portfolio level.
- Foster a cooperative atmosphere, serve as an example to project managers, and offer advice as needed.
- Concentrate on satisfying customers through effective verbal and written communication with project stakeholders, vendors, and IT resources.
- Use your persuasion, negotiation skills, ingenuity, and patience to reach an agreement on the project’s scope, timeline, expenses, budget, risks, and resources.

- Capacity to pick up new skills rapidly and adjust to different situations; willingness to actively seek out answers when needed.
- An undergraduate degree, ideally in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a similar field.
