Full-Time Curator – Lapai
Job Description
In order to fill the job of Curator, the Center is looking for an exceptionally competent candidate. This role assists with the administration and supervision of the museum’s collection and department personnel. Under the broad direction of the Chief Curator, most of the work is done independently.

Qualifications:
- Be a part of everything that happens on a daily basis in the collection management department. Antiques, artwork, and records are all cared for by the museum, which is a nonprofit organization.
- By helping with recruiting, assigning volunteers to the right jobs, and making sure they get enough training, you can help the museum system’s volunteer program.
- Large-scale international exhibition and publishing projects are managed, research is carried out and exhibition and loan operations are coordinated. Projects are guaranteed to be high-quality and delivered on time and within budget.
- Doesn’t forget about cutting-edge research or new historical arguments; instead, he or she stays up to date on these things and looks for ways to incorporate them into programming.
- Repositories and gift deeds have to be negotiated for contracts. Gift and purchase evaluations, loan agreements, and standards compliance are all handled by this position.
- Contribute to ensuring that the museum system continues to strive for diversity, equality, accessibility, and inclusion in its programs, staff, and public interactions by meeting the cognitive, physical, and social/emotional requirements of a varied audience.
- Participating in the long-term creation and preservation of collections and related information.
- Investigate independently the history of computing, including its design and technology, as well as the relevance of computers in cultural and historical settings.
- Ensure that proactive relationships with other municipal departments, outside vendors, programming partners, and educational institutions are established and maintained at all times.
- Contacting the general public may be accomplished by a variety of methods, including phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings. This role requires the ability to conduct basic reference checks and follow standard operating procedures. This person is in charge of making sure everything is done to the highest standards of precision and completeness. In compliance with departmental policy, all interactions are documented.
Skills:
- Working as a team member, creating and sustaining strong working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, and members of the general public is a demonstrated capability.
- Contribute to the formation of a good team spirit; capacity to instill morale and group commitment to goals and objectives; and supports everyone’s efforts to achieve.
- Extensive experience in museum work or a related topic area that was equivalent to completing a four-year degree program.
- The capacity to keep up-to-date on museum best practices while successfully communicating with both internal and external stakeholders through written and vocal media is critical.
- Experience or aptitude in the creation of metadata and the construction of digital collections, finding aids, and other archival description components is a need.
