Job Description
A cook is a trained chef who has worked in a professional kitchen and can prepare a variety of dishes. This job serves as the lead cook for each site while the on-duty Chef or Sous Chefs are gone, and it may also undertake basic supervisory duties. A cook is in charge of preparing outstanding cuisine for guest restaurants, staff dining rooms, and catered special occasions. Qualifications:
- Arranges and cleans all kitchen spaces, such as storage shelves, passageways, workstations, walk-ins, refrigerators, and coolers.
- Meets the company’s scheduling availability criteria, which include nights, weekends, and holidays.
- This individual examines items, reviews menus, estimates food requirements, verifies production, and keeps records in order to efficiently plan production needs and request supplies and equipment.
- The chef de cuisine must be well-organized, well-dressed, and professional in appearance. He or she must also be a good team player who works well with others.
- A cook is in charge of the setup, food preparation, organization, sanitation, and manufacturing of food and beverage items, as well as shutting and storing each work station.
- Use the Executive Chef’s recipes to create high-quality hot and cold foods.
- In the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef, has overall responsibility for the kitchen’s safety and efficiency.
- Prepare short- and long-term cash management plans as well as monthly and yearly cash flow estimates.
- Assist with the operation of cleaning equipment and dishwashing machines as needed to ensure the cleanliness of all kitchen spaces, tools, and utensils.
- Lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds, carrying up to 30 pounds, and standing and walking frequently are all necessary.
Skills:
- Ability to prioritize and collaborate with a variety of supervisors.
- All state-mandated health department and food safety standards, as well as the Executive Chef’s expectations, including HACCP and ServSafe concepts, must be followed.
- A minimum of one year’s experience as a Cook in a high-volume, fast-paced kitchen is essential.
- A high school diploma, a GED, or an equivalent is required.
- If you are 18 years old or older, you must be able to pass a background check that includes, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, past employment, education, and personal references, as per Company policy, unless federal, state, or provincial legislation prohibits it.
