Qualifications:
- The responsibilities of the Concrete Finisher include operating machines and doing manual labor in the construction and finishing of concrete surfaces, as well as aiding with other Public Works projects.
- Using a vibrating machine to compress concrete Anchor bolts, steel plates, and other concrete fittings are inserted into newly poured concrete. Sponge rubber float or burlap may be used for this purpose.
- Operates a dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe, tamping machine, cement mixer, air compressor, jackhammer, chainsaw, concrete saw, sledgehammer, mallet, shovel, rake, axe, mechanic tools, concrete forms, etc.
- Establishing a smooth top surface on freshly poured concrete floors, walls, ceilings, or pathways. Hardening and sealing chemicals are used to cure the surface of concrete.
- Repairing damaged concrete surfaces by using a range of various kinds of cementitious materials.
- Working with heavy equipment, shoveling materials, picking up trash and erecting signage are all examples of the physical work required to support departmental undertakings.
- Documents such as reports or work orders are provided to you for completion; you then process the information and either forward it or preserve it for your records.
- Reaches out to other people, whether coworkers or members of the general public, to seek services or information over the phone or on a two-way radio.
- To ensure that equipment and machinery are operating at their best, the maintenance technician is responsible for basic duties such as monitoring fluid levels, refilling fluids, lubricating equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, cleaning work spaces, and reporting broken equipment.
- Checks the forms that support the concrete for proper construction, then sets and aligns the forms that support the concrete to the specified pitch and depth.
Skills:
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are required.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and carrying a minimum of 30 pounds and a maximum of 150 pounds with assistance.
- High school diploma or GED required; additionally, two (2) years previous experience and/or training involving concrete or brick work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
- Summer shifts (day and night) and lengthy hours (70+ hours a week including nights) are usual, so be prepared to be flexible.
- All safety rules and procedures must be adhered to, as well as excellent communication with colleagues, in order to complete projects on time.
