Job Description
Subordinate to a certified Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant greets customers in person or by phone, processes new and refill prescriptions, prints computerized or written prescription labels, packages and ships prescriptions and pharmaceuticals, and supports pharmacy staff with administrative tasks.

Qualifications:
- Non-sterile and sterile products, as well as extemporaneous doses, are repackaged and/or labeled as directed by the pharmacist on the batch record.
- The importance of maintaining a clean and orderly workplace, cleaning work spaces on a regular basis, and following correct disposal procedures can’t be overstated.
- Make sure that all payments, including cash, credit, and check, are made in the exact amount. At the end of the day, settle all of the transactions in the register and check for any errors.
- It helps the product’s market, competition, customer needs, distribution, and corporate products to be better understood.
- Exemplifies the pharmacy’s objective and the organization’s vision by contributing to members’ health satisfaction by delivering appropriate prescriptions, information, and professional services in a helpful, kind, polite, and efficient way.
- There should be no gaps in this information, such as a drug name or a precise dosage, or instructions on how to get a fresh prescription. Generic or therapeutic substitutes are possible.
- Executes tasks in the case of an emergency, such as sick call covering, empty position coverage, workload modifications, and project management.
- Reorder and notification forms are completed as necessary. Patient care areas’ floorstock demands are met. Cost centers are charged, deliveries from wholesalers and other suppliers are verified for expiry dates, and charges are submitted to the proper cost centers.
- Verify that all medications have been safely and securely stored in compliance with the requirements of the Department of Health, The Joint Commission, and the State Board of Pharmacy, among other sources of guidance and direction.
