The Billing Manager is in charge of setting the tone, guiding the team, and imparting knowledge. Ensures that best practices are followed in the continuous integration and optimization of the system. Strategic policies, regulatory compliance, internal audits, corporate financials, customer happiness, and internal customer demands are all responsibilities of this position. Establishes and oversees the implementation of business strategies and work plans, while collaborating with other departments, to ensure that daily operations, department budgets, staff performance, and best practices are all carried out in a way that is both efficient and effective.

  • Retain a strong working relationship with the Finance Department and the billing team by cooperating as required with attorneys and the billing staff.
  • Acquire a thorough understanding of both internal and external training and support requirements. These requirements must be met with enough resources. Provide suggestions and input to other areas of the firm on problems that affect the company’s financial and customer satisfaction objectives, as well as regulatory compliance.
  • Attain quantifiable results in the areas of training, compliance, financial impact, audit findings, and customer satisfaction. Make suggestions to top management and convey them to them. Collaborate with other organizations to identify and explore possibilities for process improvement and integration of CIAC extension issues into other work processes and initiatives.
  • The best way to guarantee that bills are delivered in a timely manner and correctly is to keep up to date on all of the invoicing and payment terms, discount agreements, and client preferences.
  • Participate in new billing team member interviews and training, as well as develop materials to help in the education of lawyers, secretaries, and legal assistants on billing practices.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Billing Manager to develop and manage a set of standard billing processes and procedures.
  • Where applicable, provide suggestions for write-offs of old or disputed amounts, and adjust billing rates appropriately.
  • For the CIAC extension department, manages the formulation and implementation of policies, procedures, and processes to increase performance, regulatory and policy compliance, and customer satisfaction. PSCO’s process and policy standardization is driven by her. Gaps in rules, procedures, and processes that affect operational performance are aggressively identified and pursued.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and ongoing feedback to billing analysts (and additional offices as required), conduct annual performance reviews, manage and balance billing workloads, and oversee direct reports’ schedules and overtime.
  • Manages internal resources and cultivates connections to support the success of PSCO’s CIAC Extension Policy. To meet tariffs, provide leadership and advice to extension colleagues. In response to changes in the Colorado tariff and SOX Key Controls, develop, discuss, and execute consistent process improvements. Monitor extension activities, ensure appropriate CIAC payment collection and processing, and authorize refunds. Ensure that CIAC extensions are communicated to internal and external departments in a timely manner. Train all persons involved in the CIAC extension process.


  • In order to be successful, applicants must have good verbal, writing, leadership, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
  • By examining data and processes and communicating with other departments, you’ll be able to do root-cause analysis and problem-solving.
  • Candidates must also have great organizational skills as well as the ability to manage various activities and meet tight deadlines while knowing scope, deliverables, and timetables.
  • If you have at least five years of experience working in the utilities industry and have a BS degree in accounting, management or a similar discipline you are eligible to apply.
  • To be considered for this role, applicants must have a working understanding of Aderant or another billing industry standard collection software package, as well as Microsoft Office and Excel.
