It is our goal to find an experienced Associate Editor who will work with us to manage an award-winning quarterly print magazine with content geared for the agriculture business. A thorough understanding of AP style, agriculture, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams are required.

Qualifications:
- Writing and publishing service-oriented pieces for print and web, ranging from product recommendations to technique primers to interviews with chefs or home cooks.
- Offer highly and well-spoken observations, as well as realistic, constructive suggestions, about information that may not be suitable for broadcast. This might involve excessive violence or explicit language, imitable conduct, commercial product placement, or other sights that are deemed unsuitable for broadcast.
- Assist the guiding of content production and editorial direction within the editorial team, external resources, and with other departments.
- Creating a planning document for each item that provides writers with vetted sources, background information, formatting requirements, and publishing dates is essential.
- creatively thinking about how recipes and tales may be included into the brand’s overall editorial approach (digital, print, social, podcast, video, etc)
- Manage journal submission, publication, and transfer volume goals, as well as target turnaround time frames, effectively on an annual basis.
- Journals should be made to give authors as many opportunities as possible to get involved with the Editors in Chief and Editorial Board Members (EBM) who we depend on.
- In order to guarantee that any difficulties with your journal, particularly those experienced by authors, editors, or peer reviewers, can be addressed swiftly and effectively, establish great working relationships with colleagues in production, JEO (journal editing and publishing), IT, and other areas.
- Keep a close eye on your department’s operations to see if there are ways to make things better.
- From the original concept through the final edit, ensure that commercials adhere to corporate brand standards and regulatory regulations, as well as evaluate a wide range of marketing, scientific, and other evidence given in support of advertising claims.
Skills:
- The ability to communicate well with people from different departments (Art, Photo, Test Kitchen), as well as freelancers and outside contributors, is a big part of being a good team player.
- At a minimum, candidates should have a history working as a journalist or writer for three to five years. Experience in writing and revising reports, as well as understanding of SEO and best practices for headlines, should be a must for this position.
- Capacity to handle many priorities and a high number of time-sensitive activities effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
- Experience with web-based publishing, content management systems, and content production tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, is required.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to connect and work effectively with workers at all levels, as well as engage with a team, are required on a daily basis.
