Job Description
Accompanying a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Assistant is responsible for providing in-person and telephone customer service, receiving new and refill prescriptions for processing, producing computerized or typed labels for prescriptions, preparing filled prescriptions for sale, and assisting pharmacy staff with clerical functions.

Qualifications:
- Strictly adhere to Department of Health, Joint Commission, and State Board of Pharmacy standards while storing pharmaceuticals.
- Workload adjustments and project management may be performed in the event of an emergency such as sick call covering or replacing a vacant job.
- Maintains the work area by leaving the area clean and organized, cleaning the work area on a regular basis, and disposing of waste in the correct way.
- Prescriptions must indicate the drug’s name, strength, dosage, how to take it, the quantity supplied, and where to receive a fresh one, among other things. Just a few examples of what needs to be provided. Even if generic and therapeutic alternatives are feasible in certain cases, they aren’t always the best option in every case
- Assists in developing a thorough awareness of the product’s market, rivals, customer requirements, distribution methods, and Company offerings.
- Cash, credit, and checks should all be deposited in the exact quantities. At the end of the day, reconcile the register and check for any errors that may have occurred.
- Prescriptions are only sold to patients whose identities have been verified via the use of a call slip, a claim check, a health plan card, or another form of patient identification.
- When necessary, completes alert and reorder forms, fills floorstock request forms from patient care areas, processes charges to the relevant cost centers, receives deliveries from wholesalers and other suppliers, checks for expiry dates of pharmaceuticals, and maintains inventory management.
- Packages and labels sterile and non-sterile materials, as well as doses created on the spot, using the batch record from the pharmacist.
- Helping members feel better about their health by providing them with the drugs and information they need and the professional services they deserve while also exemplifying the pharmacy’s goal and the organization’s vision.
